Vintage Arcadia

My friend Butterfly updated today his beautiful blog "Rêves Siciliens", devoted to the visual universe of von Gloeden's, von Plüschow and Galdi, in late XIXth and early XXth century Sicily and Italy...

He is kind enough to allow me to repost on "Eros in Arcadia" these two beautiful photographs by Wilhelm von Plüschow.

They are protected by a Creative Commons licence: no commercial use of this pic, any repost should mention the original poster, Butterfly on "Rêves Siciliens".

Commerce amoureux

"Les ados nous apprennent à aimer ce que nous avons été et exiger davantage de ce que nous sommes. Ce commerce amoureux est troublant et cruel: l'inverse serait tellement plus confortable, qui nous ferait comprendre qui nous fûmes, et mieux aimer celui que nous sommes devenu".

(my translation)

"Thanks to teen boys, we are learning to love who we were, and to demand more from who we are now. Such a loving relationship is mind-shattering and cruel.  The reverse would be far more comfortable: understanding who we were, and loving who we are now..."

Claude Michel Cluny, Le Retour des Emigrés. Journal littéraire 1980-1981. L'Invention du temps, tome VI, Paris, Editions de la Différence, 2008, p. 285.

Intriguing Portraits (Iconic Pics)

Many thanks to Charles for contributing with these two pics...
I love them very much...  Strange atmosphere, poetry, a wide space open to interpretation...

Charles adds:
"You are without question one of the best blogger.
I love your site "

Thank you so much, Charles for this very kind comment...

You made my day...

The Art of Alexander Krivon

Light and shade surround this beautiful ephebe's face and chest...

Light caresses his long hairs with golden fingers...

Beyond the model's beauty, the photographer reached something infinite and intemporal... The grace of the young male body....

Such a play with chiaroscuro, such an emphasis on shades, such an abstract and intemporal depiction of a beautiful boy's face and torso are the modern counterparts of von Gloeden and von Plüschow arcadian dreams in early XXth c. Taormina and Rome...

It is just art, with a light gay twist...

Iconic pic

Everything sings to my eyes and to my heart in this pic...
Blond long hairs, intriguing dark eyes,
Perfection of a teen boy's tighs, legs and arms,
And casual dressing codes a tee shirt and a short and sport shoes...

A dream boy on his piedestal...

A dream boy mirroring your own gaze and desire...

Starting a new life ?
